You seem more than capable to fix this problem from your previous troubleshooting....if it is the relays the next part is probably the easiest
:)

The relays are on the front side of the drivers side wheelwell. You'll see a plastic cover. once removed there are the 3 relays (very common and cheap...$7) They just plug and unplug.

PS almost forgot....there is no module to which that mechanic referred (the module he's thinking of is ONLY on the 1988 and up motors) 84-87 is purely relay driven
There is a good pic of the cover and the relays in the GM instructions on how to upgrade to the 1988 model at our website on "page 5 of 13" to give you a better idea of the location.
