I just wanted to take a quick and brief second to share my thoughts on this before we all see a new Hellcat scare coming over this forum. F*ck Mopar. Here, Let me say that one more time, F*CK MOPAR ! ! ! there. I sure feel better. So I just really hope that all will remember the LSX376-B15 that came out many years ago now and makes 1,000+ hp with a power adder and like 50c.i. less displacement. Almost a whole liter less displacement in the LSX engine. GM in their wisdom just sold their powerhouse as a longblock only so you could apply the power adder of your choice. But make no mistake the B15 has been for sale to the public as a crate for well over 5 years now. And it sells for ~$9k. The 426 Hemi Hellephant will sell for well over $20k. Them Dodge brothers got some homework to do if they ever want to stop sucking hind tit to GM. And that is my take on the 1,000hp Hellephant motor that debuted at SEMA 2018.

It would be cool to see a Dodge engine that kept the valves in the cylinder head. I think I would much prefer to spend my mopar dollars on that before high hP mixed with incredible unreliability.

Not that concerned tonight Wiz what Dodge is up to.

Comes with a Big Maggie.
Unfortunate GM does not have it.

Many different ways to turbochage .
Requires extreme fabrication typical.

Littlefield makes awesome drag race Maggies.
Gonna stick out of the Corvette Hood.
As Hotrod gods intended.

And yet Chevy and even Ford don't have a track record of this problem. I know you are not trying to say they don't use aluminum heads.
Its been a problem for GM too Wiz.

When Hardcore was around still a few years back we discussed.
Street Racer solution has been to find and freshen up Used LS3 Cylinder heads.
You know the valveseats likely will not drop out.

GM uses the LS3 heads on B8 & B15 LSX376 for a good reason.
Above said.

But GM does have it. and at a fraction of the cost. And has had it at a fraction of the cost for many years now. And that is my whole point here. You will spend between $3k and $8k on a power adder to apply to your $9k B15. It's not just better engineering, It is way cheaper. The LSX376 motors were meant to be an affordable powerhouse. And man are they tuff to beat. And this new Hellephant is a long way from touching the B15. With the 0.819353 liter handicap. :rolling:

Man I have been working on Corvettes for 8 years. I have done so much with LS and LSX engines. I have seen so many that were built up and came apart. And so many that were just abused until failure. This is an obvious observation just from all the conversions I have posted up. I have seen some broken valve springs, but I have never seen a dropped valve seat in a LS cylinder head. And if you have, well, I would love to see a picture of it.

I have seen too tight valve clearances where the piston is helping the valve to close. and the valve is helping the piston to go down. But these cases are not indicative of a properly setup engine, now are they? And their ending usually starts with the head of the valve dropping off and then as the valve gets repeatedly beat into the cylinder head, ya the valve seat might be broken and come out in this case. But this is radically different than the problem that mopar engines face. But hey, don't take my word for it check out how every single Mopar affiliated vehicle name is on the list of J D Power's 10 least dependable automakers list:
https://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2018/02/top-10-least-dependable-automakers-2018-j-d-power.html

It's actually kinda humorous. I mean you would thin k it took a certain effort to get all of your maker names into any one list of any review.

You see the ****en Torque it makes ?
950 ft/lbs flywheel torque.
It will take a 4,000 lb musclecar and put it on the back bumper on launch.
Solid axle Dana 60 or similar.

Longblock is there.
No ****en Maggie available to add 450-500 Hp more for the B15 available to fit under stock C3, C4, C5, C6, & C7.
No centirficugal super charger available to fit in the tight Vette engine compartments either for....500 Hp more..

Like East Coast Supercharging.

Has to be Single or Twin Turbo layout to get 500 HP more.
1000 hp total.

It looks like to me Dodge is targeting the Street Race Crowd.
And the Wealthy Baby Boomers with Vintage Mopar Musclecars.
A 1970 Dodge Charger is not cheep to buy.
Looking at $50,000 - $75K to buy a clean one.
They can be over $250K to buy at times.

Will they terrorize Corvette guys ?
Not sure tonight.

I am sure the pro tour that you are seeing is. But down here we are still very much in demand. LOL. I think the difference is does it perform. Right? So many people think that anybody can turn a wrench and build the cool ****. And to be perfectly honest, the real skill, takes great offence to this kind of stupidity. To insult my efforts over so many years to build and hone the skills to be able to work the magic I do just to have some fool come up and think because a wrench fits in his hand he now has the abilities that took me so long to perfect. HA!

Let me stop before I get back on the super power rant. Unfortunately the masses can't see past the orange peel of a paint job to be able to ask the simply brilliant question "Can I see the credentials of the person who built or modified this car?" I mean can you imagine how many people would find happiness on their initial purchase if only they were capable of such a simple thought before whipping out untold thousands of dollars.

1st off build or buy a front motor plate from CCE Comp Engineering for LS engines.

No more factory engine mounts used.
Want to maximize piston ring seal under high boost.
Torsional twist no longer an issue then on cylinder walls under heavy torque loads.

Well it looks to me like they are targeting the 2 digit I.Q. bunch. I mean 15k for 1,000hp reliably or well over 20k for something that will most likely munch itself at some point. And no I doubt they will affect the corvette guys that are serious about chasing power except to make them some $$$.

Will it terrorize the stock corvette guys? Well, it might bother some of them. but terrorize is a big word to use here. :smack
