BAN BANG BANG BANG, alll I heard whenever I took of to get home.

I'm thinking it was the axle shafts u joints.

Are they hard to change,
What tools would I need
How much are they
How do I jack up the stupid car.

According to the records the rear whell bearing were replaced 4000 miles ago, shouldn't they have caught the axle joints at that time?

its an easy afternoons work.... IF YOU HAVE THE CORRECT TOOLS.(READ THE LINKS BELOW, IT GOES INTO TOOLS AND PROCEDURES)
(I do, if your local, and Id help show you how its no big deal to change them out)
youll need 4 jack stands and it will help to have access to a HYDROLIC PRESS

IF MONEYS TIGHT, (ISN,T IT ALWAYS) I used these for MANY YEARS before I could afford a lift and had a decent garage...
my shop had two 4 ton floor jacks and 6 of the 12 ton jack stands, 4 of these 12 ton jack stands makes access easy, and on sale they are $55 a pair, before I got a lift I used them almost constantly now that I have a lift I STILL USE THEM FREQUENTLY as theres little advantage to the lift at times simply because working under the car with a mechanics floor roller

4 OF THESE 12 TON JACK STANDS (above) are FAR SUPPERIOR to the more comon 3-6 ton versions, and on a LEVEL CONCRETE FLOOR provide excellent access, under a corvette for most work

What are the proper tools I need

I am guessing that the 4 jackstands are 2 to hold up the car rear and 2 to smash into the window when I get mad at it?

I hate this car, it was a damn garage queen, I get it and start driving it and all of the problems start to happen.

Haven't made it that far as to getting pics -

Bassist? huh? Any idea where he is in MI. I'm about 4-5 hours north of Detroit.

So does Bassist play the Bass by any chance, I play guitar a little and am always looking for people to jam with I even travel to do that if the situation is right.

Back to topic though..... I'm so P""""ed of at this car right now. Teh time I need it to actually get me somewhere and back it does this.

Wish I had a lift and some better tools - one of these days I'm just going to go all out on my credit card and buy a bunch of them.

I can see with a lift, that these cars are so much easier to work on, Well of course any of them are, but still.

Axle joint is fixed - that part wasn't to bad - what was bad was crossthreading the u joint strap bolt into the yolk and running it in as far as I could becuase I was PO ed and it was dark

Had to take the car to the shop anyway to get that fixed - cost me 50 bucks to get the old stripped out one taken out and the hole retapped.
