Gene, Welcome! Sorry I dropped the ball on the lift out hood hinge topic. We can pick it up here, if you need any help, looks like you've found the refugee camp
Nah, you didn't drop anything, those sketches were helpful...and gave me enough thought to actually make it to my favorite U pullit junkyard about 20 miles from here, just a trip around the corner in Jax Florida, lotta area here....
I have some hinges to play with about ten bux worth....so am going to mess with htem this morning, then take the vette across the river to play with a buddie's boat....electricals/etc on a ~20' go fast with a 350 chebby in it...
heheheheh......
I going to fire up the saw to fab some wood blocks and clamp crap up in some sorta position to see if my theory works out.....
IF it does...well, I will have to see how to do a few things.....
#1 is to lighten the hood, going to take a saw to that huge flat panel area under the BB add on scoop, that may well save about 20 lbs of glass....that damn hood is HEAVY.....then I will see about some aluminum braces for the hinges...dunno where I will find support for them as anything up top there is all glass, no metal I find anywhere....me suspects troubles there....maybe I can poprivit in a 1/4x1" maybe 2' long piece of aluminum up and under the fender/hood edge.....hummm.....
so far the hinges are off a Ford Taurus, and a OLds Silouette/Lumina Van...
small and light, and seemingly having the function I want in either pair, I cut the springs off the Lumina hinges, as they are in the way...
methinks I will start a thread about this conversioin, maybe get some other advice too.....
