I keep reading some mixed things online. I found out I have a flat tire, and I might have a warranty (depends on how much it's worn down) but the closest place (meineke) is in lansing (38 miles from me). I'd have to take the highway, and it's a decent distance to drive on a donut.
Of course I couldn't get the flat tire where it's closer for me when I was in Iowa. grrr
Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to DC You didn't say what kind of car but if it is a Vette (this is a Corvette site) don't do it. Take it off and get a ride to the business. If it is a cookie cutter car the typical rule of thumb is 50 miles at 50 mph NO MORE!

The most important thing is to make sure there is enough pressure in the donut (60 psi is probably recommended). It should last 38 miles, but your car won't handle very well with a donut on. I would particularly worry about braking if the roads aren't clear. Go with what your owner's manual outlines for speeds, but off the top of my head I would estimate that 50mph/50 miles would be safe.
