Alrighty my friends, washed the car with dawn soap, then with dawn still on the paint i clayed it, rinsed with warm water from a bucket (its only 30 in chicago) and dried. Right away I noticed I have quite a bit of surface scratches that poped up especially on the ridges on the hood and hatch. Also in the paint there seem to be spots all over, kinda like the black has faded freckles. I did get rained on but i had 6 coats of zaino on at the time so shouldnt that have protected the paint? I ran the PC with the SHR first with a white pad then after no luck went up to the orange, did the whole car with SHR then revive. The black is blacker but the sratches are still there. what do I do now? is the green pad safe to use? will i remove my clear coat?

Also im running the pc with light pressure on level one. is this correct? can i go harder/faster w/o hurting the paint?

I used Adams from my first wash on, and I can say that for my black vette, the best results I get is to use the white/black pad/porter cable with the polish, then wax and buff by hand.I'm not sure how you got waterspots, maybe they were trapped under the Zaino?

update: I called Adams central and spoke to Heather - very knowledgeable and helpful. I stepped the PC to 3 on the dial and got much beter results. I did my hood first with SHR on orange pad followed by revive on white, its not like a mirror but it is beter. It also dosent help that my garage it lit up like a runway with flouresent lights. this afternoon im going to attack the rest of the car with the above regiment followed by some buttery.

I wonder if its normal for the paint to be so suseptable to scratches, i got some scratches doing the plastic bag test... lol that aint right

Try out this method. I think you will be happy with the results. Do not be afraid of giving it some pressure. Also setting one will not give you the results you are looking for. Always use a setting higher then 2.5. You will not damage the clear coat or paint in anyway. All the products and tools you are using are totally non-abrasive.

Find an area which the fine scratches are still predominate. Do half of it as a test.

1. Start with the green pad with straight swirl and haze.(setting 3.5) Go side to side, then up and down. Repeat
Do this two or three times. Don’t be afraid to give it some pressure.
Remove the SHR
2. Switch to orange pad. Combine Revive and Swirl and Haze 70/30.(setting 3.5) Go side to side, then up and down. Repeat.
Do this two or three times. Again, a little pressure.
Remove the polish
3. Switch to white pad. Use straight Revive Polish. (setting 3.5) Side to side. Then up and down. Don’t repeat.
Remove.
4. If it is good, apply a coat of buttery wax. (setting 2.5 - 3)

If you are still having an issue, hang tight, we will be introducing a new PC polish and wax very soon within the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for your business!! Hope this Helps.

found the culprit, the green orange pad were leaving scratches. so right now im going over each panel by hand with SHR then with a 25/75 mix PCing with the white pad, ive done the hatch, hood and front fenders. so far with just this the car is as black and shiney as it was before with 8 layers of the other stuff, detail spray and gloss enhancher. There are still some really tiny scatches that I can see (damn my 20/10 vision) but considering the progress im happy.

btw adam did you know your stuff makes a great moisterizer? my hands have never been so smooth.

Thanks again BrAdam for all the help, nothing like knowing someone out there cares. do you guys need a tester for the new stuff?

I have an 02 coupe and recently added a 2nd Corvette to the garage. I bought a Black/Black 1990 ZR1 ( absolutely awsome !! ). A few weeks ago the car care forum on DC was down so I was communicating w/ Brad via his private e-mail. I had the same problems w/ this ZR1, fine scratches, swirl marks all over, it was horrible, I don't think the previous owner ever heard of micro-fiber towels. Anyway I did the car w/ SHR, Revive and Buttery Wax w/ an orbital buffer but not a PC ...it was better but not great. I contacted Brad again and he recommended the PC method decribed in this thread. So I ordered a PC and repeated the process ... I gotta tell you, the difference is remarkable, after a little effort and an investment of a little time, this car looks like new ....The PC w/ Adams product is amazing !!!

I used exactly the method that Brad suggests, however I didn't use the green side ( most harsh ) and in several areas I used the white w/ just polish several times removing it after each application finishing w/ wax as the finish. But like you I had to put my faith in Brad and apply more pressure then I normally would have. At first I was really nervous about it, fearing I would go through the clearcoat, but you'll know when enough is enough, but I can tell you it will take more then you think.
