First off for the record I LOVE the car. That's the biggest problem. I park in the end parking spot everytime and get as far away from every other car I can. I can't take it when something happens to it. It's a daily driver so obviously it's gonna get some chips in the paint and so forth, but when stuff happens to it that doesn't need to it makes me sick to my stomach. When I was working at the Naval Academy this fall somebody took it upon themselves to run across the entire car which cracked the paint on the nose and made the glass top rattle. Over the summer I was parking and nudge a curb that was about 2 inches high and put about a half inch mark on my front wheel. I've gotten two flat tires in the driver side rear and the second one was irrepairable and had to be replaced. The two rear tires were $408 a piece and with all the other stuff ended up being over $900. Then today my front tires which completely wore out to the threads on the inside, but aren't down to the wear bars everywhere else got replaced. The Goodyear dealer dinged both my front wheels and I left with an $873.59 charge. I just can't stand this. The sick feeling in my stomach won't go away. Agghhhhhhh

If Goodyear damaged your rims first off you shouldn't have payed them and secondly I wouldn't have left without them agreeing to replace or repair the damage. As for the other things that comes with having a nice car as your DD you just have to deal with it.

You can't take ANY nice car anywhere, bro. It's not just your Corvette.

Nobody gives a crap about other folks property, so it's a target for damage... and sometimes a magnet for damage.

That's why I own a $500 '93 Toyota to take to movie theaters and "not so safe" areas.

The Vette goes everywhere else. :D

I'm working on pics so when I get them I'll post them and you can tell me what you think. As for paying for it I guess I'm too nice. I'm still new to this whole having work done for me and I keep moving so I never know where to take the car.

Corvettes are expensive to maintain. Almost every little thing cost more than the average car. My back brake pads and rotor turn hit me for $255. At some point you may want to consider whether you can afford to run it as your daily driver, cause things will happen to it.

boys and their toys.

Just consider it as one of the unfortunate consequences of a stunning high performance car. Costly replacement parts just because they say corvette.

But watch the Barret Jackson auction and watch the corvettes roll across for 150K or even more. The car in the adds is almost always a corvette. The babes are always stretch across the vette and not the 93 corolla.

It's a great club so enjoy the ride and pencil in some extra funds into the corvette column.

I agree with Patrick, get a beater car. My 2000 Mini-van is my hauler, airport vehicle.

These are expensive cars to own. I burned down a pair of 325 F1 EMTs in one weekend of road racing. My Baer rotors will be gone after the next track day.

I think these cars are the only car for me so I guess I will have to make more trips to the Casino until I get to Canada, open a Canadian Bank Account and get a Canadian Credit card so I can play online again.

The only vandelism I have encountered is someone trying to pull one of my Lingenfelter fender badges off at a Hooters GTG in another tuners "territory".

Woah are you kidding me? I think i would have ended up in jail after beating the little punk that did this.

Thats incredible... did they run across your car right in front of you? Did you dispose of the body properly afterwards?

honestly i agree with you i would be sick if any of the above happened... get us some pictures of the marks the tire company put on your rims.

It is probably a bit late to do anything but it couldnt hurt to go make a fuss with the manager and then go to his district manager when he doesnt do anyhting. You would be suprised... eventually something will be done.

When you say "run across the car", were you sitting in the car when some dude jumped on top of your vehicle and started running? That is totally unfathomable. If I would have been sitting in the car when that happened, somebody would be dead. The worst thing thats happened to my 3 vettes is somebody decided to spit on my car and put handprints on it.

I too have had someone spit on my car, my old '87 vert, back when I was still in college...I was parked in the Target parking lot too! (just washed her)

To comment about the running OVER your car...I'd go balistic too! I once watched a drunk kid run OVER a car like you mentioned...from front to back! This was at about 2:30 in the morning walking home from the bars in college. I told my friends, did you see what that guy just did? It was a beater of a car, but STILL! It's still someone's property and shouldn't do that!

I'm to nice of a guy too, but I hit the local Wal-Mart up for money when there quick lube guy parked in the nose of my '87...and all that happened was the screws of the front lic. plate of the other car, minorly dented my front nose and chiped the paint. BUT they paid, b/c I didn't move the car until the manager came out and I got to show him, and then I moved the car and found that with him. YES, the Tech did get fired too...manager said to me...."I've been looking for a reason to fire this guy."

The best go to work vehicle I ever owned was an old pick up with 4 colors of paint and rust showing through. NOBODY would get close and , if you needed to enter a busy road, NOBODY would not yield your entry. A bumper sticker in Spanish was the only thing missing. :D

Yeah, vettes are targets for abuse. When I was at Niagra Falls last summer, there was a 50th anniversary C5 parked in the parking lot and these French tourists were sitting on top of it taking pictures. I was about to go yell at them, but as soon as I started walking over, the owner came back and calmly told them to get off. As far as I see it, they got off easy, because if that was my car, I would have been pissed.

I can relate

I know your pain man! I had my new 06 C6 for 1 week and my wife and I took it to the movie theatre and parked so far away that it would have been faster to walk from my house, only to come out and find a white liquid poured all over it. I don't take it to the movies anymore.
On the other hand life is too short not to enjoy your car! All you can do is try and be careful but don't let it ruin your life. There are alot other things that could be worse.
