I've purchased the valve covers below. I could use the oil fill cap, which is baffled, but I cannot find a twist on breather/PCV valve......so I was going to drill a 1.25" hole in the top of the cover to fit a standard breather/PCV, but there's no way to install a baffle to the underside of the cover.......so......

Do breathers for valve covers need baffles underneath ?

Does a standard breather need to connect to the air cleaner ?

I've also found a grommet from Trans Dapt that is baffled (has a foam element in it), but it's ID is 1 inch, not 3/8 like the hoses going to it.....so does that mean I have to find a reducer to get the hose to fit ?

I'm completely baffled

In my experience you don't need a baffle for a breather but you do for a PCV valve. I have a pair of Billet Specialties ball milled valve covers. I left the baffle off for the breather as this makes it easier to add oil to the engine but when I tried the same thing with the PCV valve (also Billet Specialties) it filled with oil and leaked on to the valve cover. I installed the baffle underneath the PCV and no more problems. Your mileage may vary.
