When it comes to the medical, I don't cut corners on insurance. I am in the Army and have coverage that will pretty much take care of me no matter what, but still pay for the extra medical coverage for my regular cars and have done the same for the 73' I am buying.

In all honesty, I would rather take a 20k hit on the car (lose it completely) rather than not be covered (myself, my wife, and anyone else in the other car) and not be able to get the treatment / attention I (we) would need. When you break it down you might be taking a risk for $100 or so bucks a year. Just not worth it.

It is one of those things I never want to use, but sure as hell want it when / if I ever need it.

I did some looking around and eventually decided to go with Hagerty for the 73' though. I love USAA (been with them for 16 plus years) and will continue to use them for everything else. They just don't have coverage that covers you if you actually want to drive your older car.

Hagerty's medical coverage is not as high as USAA, but I am comfortable with the level they offer. After talking to them on the phone I am fairly comfortable they will not leave me hanging when I need them. Maybe I will learn the hard way, but from feedback on the forum and talking to friends they seem like the way to go.

But then again, I say that knowing my medical coverage from the military will cover me as well.
