It may seem strange
Or maybe deranged
To wish for competition at the top of the heap
Corvettes added weight
Shrank their restrictor plate
And still stayed at the top of the heap
To keep the Brits involved
Tech issues were resolved
And they ran toward the top of the heap
It was a toss up for the whole season
Then the Brits withdrew without any reason
Corvettes remained at the top of the heap
When the effort is strong
And you have worked for so long
To be the one at the top of the heap.
It seems unreal
And without much appeal
To run all alone at the top of the heap
So bring on Saleens
Or Aston Martin machines
And challenge for the top of the heap
Oh where is the Lambo
Or Ferrarri Maranello
To challenge for the top of the heap
Where is Pro Drive,
Is Oreca still alive?
Come challenge for the top of the heap
When the foes have started
And then one by one departed
It gets lonely at the top of the heap.
In only one race in France
You dared take a chance
To climb to the top of the heap
But, In America, who’s your Daddy?
