I've searched and found a few post regarding this problem and now I'm wondering if anyone has found a PERMANENT fix .

The problem is.... drive to town with everything working just fine . Go to start the car (02 a4 vert) and the usual dash lights come on with the key in the on position , then when turned to the Start position everything goes out and the car wont start .
No codes, new battery, cleaned all the grounds I could find (some great pictures of them in this forum archives ), VATS is bypassed .
Sometimes after waiting 5min it will start , sometimes it takes hrs !

If I dont find a fix for this soon Im gonna buy a Mustang ! God help Me !

I had a similar situation like this happen to me a while back. The car would work well sometimes, but others it would be completely dead. Turned out that my ecbm was shorted out as well as the battery cables. Hopefully yours isn't that bad and it's just the cables, but either way, I'd get the car into a shop and have a good mechanic take a look at it.

sounds like a loose connection. Could be either hot or ground.

I ran into this the other day as well. A few months ago, my factory battery leaked, I fixed it, but the other day my car done the same as you descibed. Monday I am ordering new cables. Anyone know of a good place to get them from? Chevy wants $85 for the negative.

start ?

Maybe I'll try replacing the cables . I've also had people say it could be a bad spot on the starter .
Taking it to the shop probably isn't going to work unless it just happens to die while there and that could be months from now .
Ive replaced relays but what is the ecbm OSUVETTE was talking about ?
