Trying to decide between two different radiator grille screens offered at West Coast Corvette. One is the GM accessory screen:

http://www.westcoastcorvette.com/ps-1210-174-2005-2007-radiator-grille-screen.aspx

and the other is a cheaper (lower quality?) one:

Does anyone have any experience with either screen? Is it worth an extra $165 for the GM accessory? I am looking to purchase one just to protect my condensor and not really for the looks.

I mainly want to avoid that billet grille look that I see on a lot of other cars (350z's etc.)... The racemesh grill, however, looks pretty slick. I do want to avoid modifying the exterior of my car as much as possible and those two grilles from WCC's seem to fit the bill. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with the cheaper grille protector from WCC's? Any rust issues? Anyone have any experience with the GM accessory grille protector? What is your opinion?

I like the look of the rear panel. Who makes that? I have a solid panel, but might be willing to switch.
I don't know the name of the manufacturer. Check with all of our sponsors first, but if they can't get it, I saw this on ebay.

I like the look a lot, but I have a Vararam and love the performance improvement too much to risk cutting air by 30-40% - which is what any screen will do.

menards, less than 10 bucks for a 4X8 sheet!, im still have extra if i get the urge to create. also the Z06's will fit if you like that style.
The Z06 black egg-crate looking style will fit? It'd have to be modified some I'd say, as the opening is quite larger. I like what you've done SinisterC6 (homemade), but really like the material in the Z06 grill nose. If that'll work, I might try it. Should have the same general curve.

thanks man! i kinda regret i didnt make it gloss black, however some undercarrige spray makes it glossy
I think it looks fine, but if you are determined, I highly recommend powder coating. Had all the window/windshield/raingutter/"A" & "B" shiny alluminum trim on my son's El Camino powder coated - 13 pieces - for about $130. Harder than paint (need that for a grill IMO) and looks fantastic.

Installing GM Grill

Decided to install the GM stainless mesh grill for protection after the condenser was punctured and Chevy Service said it was caused by a rock and wasn't covered under warrantee! (Turns out after investigation and writing a report to Chevy and proving it wasn't caused by a rock had full replacement cost covered!!)
There are some tricks to installing this excellent grill that are covered on my web site; http://www.netwelding.com/Reports_Vette_Info.htm
I would say it's worth the extra cost. The GM box says it's made in Belgium! Very high quality.

I recently made one out of home radiator cover screening...found a piece that was the perfect fit..painted it flat black and slipped it behind the factory grill and fastened it with wire ties. Also had to cut it in half to get it in there.
