After 3 days of work it runs! New AFR 195s and an XE268H cam. I've had my nose is 5-6 different shop/service manuals having never done mechanical work to this degree and to have the motor crank right up is a wonderful feeling! I'm really excited to wake up tomorrow and double check everything before seeing how much livelier she'll be! I'll keep you guys posted.

Nothing like the satisfaction of doing it yourself.
How was it, easier/harder than you thought?
Either way congrats.

Well I went into the whole thing very cautiously, knowing that even though I thought I knew what was coming, I had no idea. So with that mind set it was easier to confront and deal with issues as they popped up and it ended up being a little easier than I thought it would be. Thank god for haynes and the 1974 chevrolet shop manual.

I like the shop manual. I also find the haynes manual good for standing on.
There were definately a few times I was completly confused by the haynes manual, and one look into the '74 shop manual cleared things up. It's nice to have two or more books for cross referencing though.
