it's that time of the year again..
that i buy something for myself & my car. I have a birthday coming up and my vette will have been with me for 3 years come saturday. So anyway i like to buy toys for the car and recieve them as well this time of the year.
What would you all recommend as far as air filters / intakes go? I have always heard Blackwing or some folks say Haltech. What about the "smooth bellows" or the "power ducts" esp the carbon fiber? Any recommendations, are they just for looks or do they really help improve airflow and perhaps even a minimal gain in performance? I'm pretty well tuned into my car and i seem to notice every little ounce of performance....anything from different air temps / humidity to the small mods i have done.

which begs the question(s), does the Stinger really rub against the hood or bow the hood? That would concern me. How does it attach to the car, the stock setup the airbridge connects to the top of the radiator shroud. What keeps this thing in place? Also, did anyone ever get any dyno numbers with this thing off hand?

I have the Blackwing on my car, but it was already there when I purchased her so I can't say if it made a noticeable difference. I've also heard good things about the Callaway Honker.
Thanks for the info, after careful consideration i have chosen the Halltech Stinger due to the rave reviews it seems to be getting around here plus the fact that it comes with a bigger air bridge ( i chose red ). Had i gone with the Blackwing i would have had to have ordered the air bridge extra. I placed the order with a forum vendor, and i look forward to the day it arrives. Will let you all know what i think.

Thank you, looking forward to it. I was going to wait but i bought the car 3 years ago today so i thought what the heck might as well. It's still as much fun today as it was 3 years ago, maybe more.
Thanks for that pic too DDN, i ordered the red one like that yours looks good with the Z06 red fuel rail covers. Hmmm.... :drink: i may put the red fuel rail covers on my birthday list.

I chose the Callaway Honker
I'm pleased with my Callaway Honker. It draws cold air through a rectangular hole you cut in the radiator shroud.

Apparently they are re-designing the C5 Halltech Stingers or at least the RED ducts so the kit is not in stock at the moment.
I'm curious if anyone knows what the re-design is for by chance?
I dont mind the wait though i am looking forward to getting it and putting it on my car.
