I've seen plenty of Vette owners with Jeeps. I think they are the perfect companion to a Vette. Great when the weather gets crappy or whenever you want to head out on the trails.

So lets see your Jeeps. Post some pics of your rigs here.

How are Jeeps now days? I remember the CJ5 / 7's and they were a blast. Are the newer ones as durable? Can you flip it in a pasture and still drive it home?

God, those were fun vehicles...

We've had ours since '04 and havent broken anything on it yet. Been in plenty of situations where I thought 'Oh no... this is gunna get stuck' and it pulled on through. Crossed plenty of creeks/rivers , Snowy Colorado Roads, Sand Dunes in Califnornia and three or four road trips to Canada and she still runs like new.

The Vette is fun on the road.. This is fun offroad.

I'll get pictures of my Heep tomorrow. It'll make Loggins' TJ look showroom-new. I'm not really shy about off-roading it, and rocks/ trees make quick work out of paint and sheet metal

BTW, as my sig states, I drive a '98 cherokee. In the next year, its going to be getting some major surgery to include: ford 5.0, stretched wheelbase, lifted to about 4" over stock, 33" tires and a full-length belly skid plate.

here's a few i dug up: the jeep's changed a bit since these though

this girl is high-maintenance like no other...

more to come tomorrow.

edit: during that day of wheeling, it was just above freezing, and the ice was about 8-10" thick. The lead truck was a dodge 1500, and one of ice sheets got a hole in it due to his weight. I couldn't dodge the hole (no pun intended), so I nailed it hard, hit the ice at about 20mph, and cut an 8' groove in it. The motor's been hydro-locked in the past, and i've had water come into the cabin. I think it goes without saying that i ain't shy about pushing the limit

To answer your question: Yes...with one exception. The wranglers (excluding the rubicon) have a dana 35 rear axle, which is widely know to be a POS. as long as the D35 is avoided, Jeeps are pretty darn tough even today.

What Brand are you thinking about getting? I noticed that the 07-08 KJ Rubicons have BFG's and not my MTR's. Any clue why?
The JK's probably went to BFGs because of $$$. MTR's ain't cheap. From tire rack, a set of 33x12x15 MTRs cost 180, while the same BFG mud costs 168. all of those dollars add up. BFG A/Ts are even cheaper, but aren't that great in mud.

Edit: BFG A/Ts are $138 from tire rack.

I'm looking at getting a set of TSL swampers, but if the price of entry is too high, I'll back down to a BFG M/T.

Last edit, i promise: TSL Boggers (which are noisy as all hell) are $215 for a 33x14x15. Got contact patch?

Thought I'd give this thread a bump since I just bought a Jeep yesterday.

Jeeps are the neatest thing made. Love my Sahara. It`s a 91 with 35,000 miles but I have other toys to use. I ordered it at the start of Bush 41`s Arab war and the war was over before I picked it up.
