I have been doing steering system "core dumps" for the last several years since my retirement from Saginaw Steering Gear. I basically worked in the Steering System area of Product Engineering during my 39 years at Saginaw. I was the engineering supervisor over the power steering hoses, flexible couplings, and hydraulic seals for all of the Saginaw pumps and gears during the early 70s and 80s. So a lot of my engineering product experience was during the C3 era. It also helped a lot when I purchased brand new 1976 and 1980 C3s.

I was lucky to have a very helpful enthusiast post my C3 Corvette steering papers on his Corvette Faq websight. He even expanded it to include my papers on Chevelles and Camaros.

The papers are at www.corvettefaq.com

I wish there was a way to "stickey" just the first post from Jim. Jim IS the definitive authority on the stock Corvette steering, column, pumps, valves, you name it. His papers are a great wealth of information. His paper on Tilt steering columns are worth their weight in gold.
