So here I go. Tommorow I get on a plane to get my C3 from the mechanic that had been making it road worthy(and installing new brakes and a new suspension cough cough).

Then the real fun begins. 8 hours of driving in an old car with a notoriously hot interior with no air conditioning, and a broken driver side power window motor(cant roll it down) in a freakishly hot summer.

That sounds like fun to me. Last summer i drove 10 hours up to Mt. Tremblant Canada in a heat wave to go to a HPDE.

I almost turned back by the time i hit rt.128 (Boston Loop) i was starting to feel nausious about to throw up, but i really, really wanted to go so i started pouring bottled water on my head. I stopped and got a couple bags of ice and put it in a bunch of ziploc bags. I put the bags all over my body......yea, there too....

I think back on that trip and how crazy i was to continue in the heat. I wouldn't do it again. Bring a box of ziploc bags. Better yet get one of them NASCAR cool suits.

When I went to cruise in 4, I made it there by the skin of my teeth. About 12 hours with the clutch running on debris after breaking. and no brakes. I had to plan gas stops very very far in advance.

Everything entirely failed when I pulled into a chevy stealership in bowling green. I am serious, white knuckle 21 year old Army retard with a no quit attitude. It was amazing the dealership looked at the car and said "we dont know how to fix that." THen they called me a flat bed and took me to a local shop.

Crazy.

You should be able to pull the door panel off and crank down the window by pulling the old motor out for the time being.
I beleive he said the motor was in a box however pulling the motor from the regulator will cause the window to go up, like a rocket:surprised . There is a counterbalance spring loading the regulator.

:agree:

There have been guys that have lost fingers, getting hung up in window regulators. That spring has enough energy stored to do the chop-chop. Be careful!!

Travel at night with the roofs off and the rear window out, not too good of a solution but it is an alternative,,,Good luck, have a safe trip,,,Peace,,,Moosie :buhbye:

I am in the airport now. I will be incommunicado once my plane takes off, but

15S from Rochester, NY

Pick up I81S at harrisburg in PA
Pick up I64E at or around charlottesville, VA
288S to home

I am taking the long way around to avoid the DC beltway. I really dont want to sit in the traffic on I95, stop and go sucks in a C3 with a stick.

YES!.......BE CAREFUL with those old scissor type regulators.
In 1984 I was 19 and working at a Chevy Dealer in Florida I had one
those suckers close up on my left hand right across the knuckles.
I thought it broke my hand cause I couldn't move my fingers.
After having another tech take me to the hospital I found out my hand
wasn't broken........it was my tendons cut in two. They took me straight
to surgery and sewed everything back up. I wore a cast for a month
after that. Up to this point everything was painless and straight forward.

It was after they removed the cast and I had to start using the hand
again that the pain started. I could feel those tendons all the way to
my shoulder. The cut area was overly sensitive for nearly 10 years
after that. I did regained full use of the hand.............guess I was lucky.

SO BE CAREFUL..............
BE DAMN CAREFUL..........;)
