Anyone have any feedback,either good or bad on the K&N Xtreme air filter lid?

I already have the regular K&N air filter element on my 81,and was thinking about adding the replacing the stock cover with the Xtreme 14" lid.

Have heard some good comments on these on other vehicles.

There is considerable thickness to the K&N filter top in the sideview, it's not thin like the metal lid. You need to make sure it clears the carb vent stacks, because it is 5/8" plus thick. On the underside is a perforated plate, which I think would serve as a flame arrestor. But a call to K&N might be in order.

If you have it smog inspected, it may not pass. If not, can't hurt, only help.
