I ran across a 79 Canadian Stingray that was in beautiful condition. Speedo
in kilometers to boot.
Question is, does the L82 designation mean.
Thanks

The L82 usually meant an optional engine for that year with mor horse power and the tach usually had a higher red line...
Vale covers where polished aribed alum.

the L48 was the base engine...

The base engine in 1979 was the L48 - 195 HP.

The L82 was an option, and it offered 225 HP, 4 bolt mains, and a steel crank. The heads also were better, with 2.02 (or was it 1.94) intake valves and 1.60 exhaust valves. I believe that the L82 heads also offered screw in studs rather than pressed in studs. I don't remember if the intake was aluminum or not.

Thanks guys,
I was actually contemplating selling my 04 ZO6/Z16 and buying it.
When I got home and fired up the "'Z" and rolled it out of the garage and
got on it , Oh well, I think I'll paas on it.

IMHO, I think you made the right choice. I might think about trading off a Z16 for a '70 or '71 LT1, but not much else from the '70's. They're great cars, but there's just something about that CE Z06!
