To Tint Or Not To Tint?

It all depends if its legal, for me i would love to get it, but i really dont want the LEO on my ass, but if its legal in your State i say :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

 

Several states have laws on the books concerning the percentage of tint allowed,check with your local LEO before you install,that way you won't waste your money,and keep your reciept for when you go out of state ,they can't hassle you about it.

 

Red with black tint..... Hard to go wrong with that combo. :thumbsup:

I'm on the fence too, I have a LMB that I want to tint, but I've seen pics of the LMB that look good, and really bad with dark tint. :huh:

 

when i had a blue buick regal many moons ago it had blue tint , and it really did look good, not great but good, figured i would give you my opinion

 

Any tint on a red car looks good, but I dunno about limo. I'd say go 20 percent. That way you have the visibility during the day, and complete blackout at night.

 

20% all around is awesome. I would have gone darker but texas law says i can only go 35% on the sides.

 

virginia law is above 35% on back window and i think 50% on front side windows :down:

 

I've got limo tint on the back of the vert and no LE has ever said a thing. The 28% on the side windows sure gets lots of attention here in Virginia. :lookinup:

 

Have Limo all the way around. Got busted here in Texas for a $200.00 fine for the side windows. Limo still on the back window and I cant see **** at night. Day time it is just right though.

 

Ohio is about the same 35% on driver and passenger....dark as you want on the back. Stay legal....vettes get enough attention on their own...don't want Johnny law pulling you over. Tickets can be expensive and then you have to re-tint the windows anyway. Just my 2 cents!:thumbsup:

 

I have Limo (5%) tint on the side windows and the back window with 30% on the windshield and love it. Its dark enough to keep the car cool inside but its still easy to drive it at night without having bad visibility!

I'd say it depends on the cops more than the laws. Some cops, depending where you live will make you strip it right there after they pull you over.

State law in GA is 25 I believe, which is what I'm running. Certainly helps to keep the heat out but not bad enough so I can see what I'm doing, especially backing up at night.

 

I think GA is 32%.

Mine are 20% and I have not had any problems. Knock on wood

 

when i had my 88 i had limo on it and had no problem with the police.. state and local. hell, one day getting off work there was this accident right before i got on the highway there was this state trooper just getting done with this accident and i know i had to be at least a mile a head of him well anyway he's catching up with me and he finally does he runs my tag next thing i know he pulls around and passes me and another time i'm at a stop light a police officer pulls next to me and i looks over and he's gesturing to me to row my window down(i'm thinking in my mind "ok here we go he's going to tell me something about my tint) well to my surprise i row my window down he tells me i got a break light out and i might want to get that fixed. at this point i am leaning towards getting dark as i can get without it being illegal(just because of the fact when i had my 88.. at night i couldnt see didley squat especially backing up) i will be getting this done friday morning and i'll post some pics as soon as i can. i really appreciate your guy's opinion on this.

As for backing, I just drop the windows.
One thing to consider, if you go with 35% on the doors, do 20% in the back.
Or with 20% on the doors do 5% on the back.
It will look better as when looking from the side, the tint will appear darker because you are looking through 2 windows tinted and the back you are looking through 1 tinted and 1 clear. It will look more uniform.

Ever see those cars with limo tint all around INCLUDING the windshield! They must not be able to drive at night, I just dont get it. :huh:

 

My friend has 5% all around and 80% on the windshield of his Lightning. Looks really good since you cant see whos in the car due to the angle and its very easy to see from inside the car day or night. Im debating on it myself.

 

It does look really good I just thought it would be tough to see out of at night. If you get it done definitely post some pics, it would look great on the Z

I am thinking about tinting my front window slightly. I really only drive the car during the weekends and daytime.

Anyone done this and have any recommendations. I live in Florida.

 

15% all around

 

Texas law says 25% sides, and any tint you want on the rear.

I have 20% sides, and 5% rear.
