I just bought the car and the only option it didn't have was the CD part of the Bose setup. It currently has a working Bose cassette with six speaker system but I pretty much only listen to sports radio and CDs. I've found a few stock replacement units for that year with the CD option ($300~$550). Am I limited to only the 94/96 GM Bose for the Corvette or will other Bose head units work from the Camaro or such. I imagine the early models of Corvette fit but the orange lettering would stand out too much but a lot of the later model Bose setups for GM look like they would work.

Is their a dash depth issue unique to the Corvette?

At this time I do not want to replace the entire system, just a head unit swap.

Since you want to retain the factory look, you will need a 94-96 Corvette CD/Tape Bose unit.

The Corvette is special since the headunit is ONLY the Tape, CD (if Equipped) and controls. the actual receiver is behind the Passenger seat under the storage bin.

you could use a 90-93 but they will not match completely, 90-91 was grey with yellow letters, and 92-93 was yellow lettered on black.
