I've had some squeaking/creaking issues with the top since the beginning that was caused by the rubber that meets the driver and passenger windows. Now however, I am getting loud creaking noises from the top itself, apparently from where the composite top meets the front and side bars that makeup the whole top. It makes me wonder if there's any chance of it coming apart like some of the painted tops have. Anyone else hearing this?

Mine does it on occassion like it has a mind of it's own. WHen I had my 05, my top developed a hairline crack in it along the edge on the side. I think angling up driveways and such so you don't rub the spoiler makes the body twist a little and it eventually grew enough where the dealer replaced it. It started getting really noisy. I didn't know there was a TSB out on it though.

Grinding top and rear top latch

My top grinds all the time (I put about a 1,000 miles on it before it started), but the thing that really bugs me is when the rear top latch pops open whenever I go over an uneven surface. It's really loud and scares the crap out of me and my wife. Anybody else having that problem?

Gease huh?

Not sure I want grease smeared around the back of my car when I remove the top. Anyhow, my big concern is the back latch flying open when I go over uneven roads. Sounds like I've been shot. Any suggestions?:smokin:

Mine sort of makes a creaking noise. But what I am noticing is that it only happens in this recent 100 degree heat we have been having in KY once the air conditioning starts getting cool. I wonder if it has to do with the cool temp inside of the car and the extreme heat outside of the car. Does anyone smarter than me know if that could be it??

Mine has been creaking since last fall. I'm sooo sick of the annoying sound. It has been a lot worse the past week or so with the 100+ temperatures. I'm going to ask the dealer here about it when I take the car in to get the rear end fixed since that is making noise again.

:agree: Same on my C6 coupe, it really seems to be worse in the heat... Anybody have the TSB they can post?

pull the belt all the way out and then "click it" into the latch

Ok, here is what I have found on this: According to Chevrolet Document ID# 1970425

Titled: “Creak or Popping Noise from Roof Near Windshield/A Pillar (Replace Plastic Guides in Roof Striker and Add Flocking Tape and Shim Stock) #05-08-59-003E-(05/09/2007)

Causes sited as:

  • The roof guides may have elongated the plastic guides.
  • The windshield garnish molding may be causing the noise.

The bulletin includes warranty repair info, so you should be able to get this fixed…

FYI,

Some have had success with shrink tubeing on the locator pins. I don't think the rubber is creaking so greasing it prob. won't help (although some have reported improvement after using talc powder on the rubber) Grease the pins and if that doesen't help use the shrink tubeing.
If the rear latch is comming loose when you hit a bump, it needs to be adjusted. Very simple to do. Release the latch turn the nut one turn out to increase the tension on the 'hook'. Re latch and look for a bump. If it pops loose repeat the procedure until it remains latched. Good luck!

Took mine to the dealer and they found the top start to peel back after the glue/sealant job that they did a few months ago to eliminate the top flying problem that the c6 were experiencing. They are now replacing the top- they need to paint it and then I will be up/running again.

They rebuilt the rear-end differential for that noisy sound as well.:D
