main belt tensioner replacement procedure

Has anyone replaced the main belt tensioner by yourself (the one that's on the right - passenger - side of the engine, with 2 screws and is visible from the top). I hear people do this alone.

Do I remove the 2 screws first and then remove the belt? Or do I remove the belt first and then unscrew the tensioner? The belt is pretty tight obviously and I don't want to damage it by pulling it off while tensioner is still on.

any one?

one more question about the breaker-bar tool ...

I found the replacement procedure with pictures on the web (http://www.corvettemagazine.com/2001/april/serpentine/serpentpg4.asp). I didn't know what a breaker-bar was, but now I do.

Can I do this with any tool that will safely allow me to push the tensioner down as I would do with a breaker-bar? Can this be done WITHOUT a breaker-bar. Cause, then I would have to buy one or sth?
