This may be a stupid question however the map lights are always on.

I have pressed both buttons while I am in the car and doors closed and still no luck.

Am I doing something wrong?

Do I have an options turned on for this to be always turned on?

Should I lift up my left foot and hold my nose to get this to work? :rolling:

All suggestions/assistance are greatly appreciated.

Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Happy Holidays.

The dreaded 'hit your knee on the light switch' trick. The small light switch that acts like it's only for the interior light intensity is verrrry easy to hit with your knee getting in and out. It also turns the map lights and floor courtesy lights on/off. Give it a push and see if they go out. It's the little switch on the lower dash just left of the steering wheel--don't worry, you're not the first to ask about this or have it happen.:partyon:

Never mind. The map lights turned off eventually

It seems within the configuration, I have set the map lights to be turned on for a certain timeframe.

Now, I need to find out where to change it. I think I know where however I am starting to drink my fourth beer.

Life is good.

Nope, it was not the dreaded knee issue

Nope it was not the dreaded knee issue. I thought this was it since I was detailing the inside of my car in this wonderful weather we are having in South Florida.

Unfortunately, I still have the map lights turned on when everything else gets dimmed (ie courtsey lights as you mentioned).

I am leaning towards the configuration issue.

Maybe I will work on this tomorrow when I am sober.

I don't think it is a "configuration" issue as there is no way to program the length of time the map lights stay on, but they will turn off automatically after 20 minutes to save your battery as you observed. You must have either bumped the map light buttons or the interior brightness knob, so I would suggest playing around with all three of these buttons until you can find a setting where the lights will dim and turn off when you leave the car.

Hey Andy,
Not To Worry, I Some How Get Those Map Lights To Stay On Every So Often. The First Time I Paniced And Went To The Dealership. The Cute Little Girl Service Writer Had Me Back On The Road In 30 Secs. The Second Time I Took A Grand Girl With Me And We Were Back On The Road In 30 Secs. Now I Just Go Get The Grand Girl, We Go Get A Milkshake And Burger, She Turns Of My Map Lights And I'm Not Red Faced At The Dealership Anymore. This Is One Of The Real Reasons Why Old People Have Grand Kids You Know!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to everyone

Since I am sober now, I was able to take the advice from two fellow vette owners and it worked.

I come from the engineering world and when the switch is "out", this typically means off and when the switch is "in" then it is on.

However, the switch from the map lights operate the opposite way. Go figure.

Therefore the combination of the map lights and the switch on the dashboard were the root cause of my issue.

I feel like a dork however a dork with a vette. :D

Thanks to everyone who posted the suggestions.

Happy Holidays.
