A woman drives this car. We have other pictures of this car when it was all white in development.

That's Rod Saboury's new car! I have had the distinct pleasure of getting to know Rod this past year. Hell of a great guy and man has he built some super cool (and fast) cars! I bought my project car from him not to long ago. I'm new at all this and he's been very patient with all my stupid questions and given me some great guidance.

Here's some detail on this car...
The engine is a Mike Moran built 2,400 HP twin turbo 400CI small block with Dart big block heads (runs on pump gas). It's based off a '63 body that was lengthened in 3 places. It's got power windows, back-up lights, the factory roll up headlights work, even has cup holders. And yes, Rod drives that sucker on the road.

He's doing a bunch of shows and will have it at Carlisle in August as well (in the Meguiar's booth I believe)... then he'll take it to the track.

Here's a shot I have in my uploaded photos. I've got a bunch more but haven't had a chance to upload them yet.

Awesome thanks for the info! Sure is great when you can learn from someone who has been in the game for so long.

Well tell Rod we're all drooling over it here on DC! I'd be fun to read some stories as that project was being built. Certainly look forward to seeing it at Carlisle.

It's funny... When I went to go meet Rod for the first time, to see about buying a project car from him, I really didn't know who he was. Of course if you ask him, he'd just say "I'm nobody". But that's the kind of guy he is - not at all prententious. You can imagine my jaw hit the floor when I walked into his garage (see my photo earlier in this forum of his garage w/ all the trophies and those incredible cars). I thought, oh ****... this guy's the real deal. But like I said he couldn't have been nicer or more helpful.

If you're interested, here's an article on Rod that was written back when he started this project. Gives some history too...

Better yet, here are some photos of a few other cars he's built...

'53 Race Car

'63 Custom

'67 Custom

The '64 project I am currently working on seems a bit measly in comparison to all this, but hell, I'm still lovin' it! :partyon:

If you liked the '53 race car, here's a shot of the '57 Rod drove to a few world records and a championship back in the day... It's been repainted black by the current owner and he's actually got it up for sale. It will be at Carlisle as well...

If any of you will be attending Carllisle, be sure to stop by and meet Rod. He's been catching some flack on other web forums about his current car (the one that started this thread). I know he'd appreiciate the thumbs up.
