I am looking into upgrading my intake. I have heard good things about both the mini ram and the stealth ram, but which one is better? The stealth ram I have found for a lot less money, and it seems to be more readily available. Right now it will be on the stock motor but I have a mild street 408ci smallblock I would like to put in the Vette eventually, and still use the new intake.

Also, what type of computer changes are required for changing the intake system?

The miniram is the pick in this case because the stealth ram won't fit under the stock Corvette hood. You either have to mod the plenium or buy a high rise hood. Another intake to look into is the superram.

So if I am willing to put a bigger hood on the Stealth RAM is the way to go? Why does it cost so much less than the mini RAM? Are there any changes I have to make to the computer?

Mini Ram here, I will have mine port matched for AFR 210cc heads, we'll see how much power she makes, but was a HUGE increase over the TPI:thumbsup:

"Are there any changes I have to make to the computer?"

read this first

http://www.gmhightechperformance.com/tech/0307htp_hollley_stealthram_intake_third_gen_iroc/

http://stealthram.com/

but to get the full potential youll need to build the engine combo to operate in the rpm band that the intake is designed to work in

while you don,t have to exactly follow this recommendation , I can assure you it works very effectively, and keep in mind that the camaro used a lower compression 350 sbc and a smaller cam than the intake flow rates can effectively supply or can use efficiently

heads
anythin in the 190cc-210cc range that flows at least 250cfm at .500 lift and better at higher lifts, the AFR 195cc eliminators come to mind quickly as do the brodix 200cc IK and 210cc{R} TRICKFLOWS

cam
the crower 00471 is the best peak power cam Ive found but the crane 119661 makes a nicer street/torque band so thats what IM running

http://www.crower.com/misc/cam_spec/cam_finder.php?part_num=00471&x=30&y=6

http://www.cranecams.com/?show=browseParts&action=partSpec&partNumber=119661&lvl=2&prt=5

youll need a 3000rpm stall converter, a 3.73:1 rear gear and 10.5-11:1 cpr and 30lb-36lb injectors to match the much higher rpm rasnge and durration the intake provides its power in vs the TPI which basically dies at 5000rpm while the HSR pulls to 6400rpm easily

your ignition must match, Im running a holley small dia distrib

Thanks. I will do my research but it looks like the stealth ram for me, when I feel like modifying the hood. Anyone else who has an input feel free to post it is all much appreciated.

I have had both.

I recommend a Miniram, IF you are willing to install a 3.73 gear minimum.

I recommend a Stealth if you want to stay in a lower RPM range,

and as mentioend you need a modified plneum or hi rise hood.

if you are going to out lay all that cash i wouldnt use either of these options i would use this system it kills all other intakes and it is very easy to fit

it makes a heap more power over the whole rev range.it is a cheaper option in the long run to.

where does the MAF or SD connect?

How big of heads do you need to handle the CFM, dont you need a DFI
i have changed the computer to a E6gmx haltec and it pulls vac from a balance pipe that is machined through all 8 ports at the back of the manifold which feeds the MAF sensor, the heads are PRO KIWIS alloy and they use a felpro 1206 intake gasket.

BOSCHVETTE- That setup is way out of my price range. I am still in college and on a tight budget. I am looking for something that uses the stock ECM and requires as little changes, but still an upgrade. Im on a quest to go as fast as I can for as little as possible. I have already purchased some ECM tuning, and chip burning equipment so I can do that myself for less. However that is one good looking setup, if I had the money I would most likely do that.

No doubt, if you take trhat manifold and add the cost of the aftermarket computer system the price is over the top,

I would suggest that you get a miniram and gears and be done with it.

I love that side draft Throttle body setup. Who sells those anyways? I thought about doing that to my 84 with an old school Weber carb setup, but this looks way better.
