Will GM want a Chevy to be the highest price car? If not, a loaded SS/BD might end up being less than the Cadillac which currently tops out at $100k. But then, if it stays in production, Cadillac may raise their price on their '09, so...

Why not? The Corvette base is already more expensive than a large part of the model line.

All prices are Base w/o options:

Chevy:
C6 Coupe - ~45,000
C6 Vert - ~ 53,000
Z06 - ~ 70,000

Cadillac (Source Edmunds.com)
2006 CTS Top's at $51,425 < C6 Vert
2008 DTS Top's at $49,330 < C6 Vert
2008 Escalade Top's at $59,710 < C6 Vert
2008 SRX Top's at $43,925 < C6 Coupe
2008 STS Top's at $76,555 < Z06
2008 XLR Top's at $97,860 < SS!!!

So that puts the Z06 above everything except the XLR which is a lower volume car than the Z06 probably.

Ford did it with the Ford GT ... it was more expensive that any other Jag.
Mopar did it with the Viper ... it was more expensive than any Chrysler, and most MBenz ..

Doesn't matter it is a Chevy or a Caddy ... the price is set based on cost + market demand.
