I was driving on Saturday the car was running good then backfired and died, it resatrted for just a moment then died again, when I tried to restart it I do not smell gasoline and suspect the fuel pump may have went out, any ideas?

Have you checked the simple things like are you getting fuel to the top side and are you getting spark. That would be a real good place to begin

Process of elimination. Like Torch said fuel, spark and air. If you have those three it should run. Remember on the air side it has to go in and come out unrestricted. Highly unlikely but could be a cat problem. Oh and welcome to DC.

Begun vehicle everything typical, retreated from carport, drove not too far off fine and afterward BAM! tremendous single explosion out of the fumes, motor went dead, let it coast to a stop. I did a visual examination in the engine and saw nothing unusual. Endeavored to restart the engine, the motor started like ordinary, was getting a lot of fuel however wouldn't fire. Has anybody had this occur or understand what it very well may be? Any ideas would be greatly valued. T
