Here we go, as stated in my Welcome thread, I'm coming soon to USA to buy my first vette

The model will be a 80-82. I think it will be hassle-less when I'll have to drop the LS1 or LS2 into it because of the electronic already present. Plus I like the look of the post 79 C3.

I'll start my ride in Florida, Tampa where I'm gonna buy the VBANDP suspension kit + rack&pinion kit. Those guys seem great afaik.. and there's a 20% discount this month. Maybe passing the night around Miami then leaving in the early morning to the West into my rental car (not a vette ) which will also be my hotel :spanked:

Check the travel map here:

Stop in Texas to buy the engine and trans (LS1+T56)

From that moment I start checking C3 for sale.. I wanna buy it in a rust-free State.. TX.. AZ.. more probably CA.. depends on the market offer in February

Total trip.. about 5000 km.. from East coast to San Francisco in 15 days

Can't wait to start that adventure :excited:

I'll post some pictures of my journey if some of ya are interested to follow the trip of an European guy :buhbye:

wow, that sounds like an awesome trip! If you were crossing the midwest farther north I'd be happy to offer a place to stay, but your route is a long way from me.

What happens when you find the right car? Do you have to drive back to Florida to ship it? Or can it go from California?

Be sure to take lots of pics and keep us up to date as you travel if you can!

Logistic is one of the main issue I'm trying to solve now

I have the opportunity to load the car in the container either in San Francisco port or in Houston port. So buying near one of those 2 cities would be great to avoid inland freight (about 1000 usd).. as I can't drive the vette because of no insurance

Maybe I'll get a really cool seller that will help me drive or pull the car up to the container yard

I landed at Miami on Monday

Everything is so different here compared to Europe.. had a few good laughs

Been trough that Indian reserve, passed a few hours at their huge casino.. some of them don't really do well with alcohol

Passed by Tampa for the VB&P parts, those guys are great

So now I got the suspension kit, rack&pinion and I cracked for the C5 brakes conversion although I wanted a more lightweight solution the calipers are still about 50% the weight of stock

Then I headed north to Ocala, nice landscapes

Had a talk with the security guard of Ocala rest area, he happned to be running a muscle car business in the past.. so we had a lot to talk about

Now I'm in Alabama, trying to have a decent night.. my nights are bad since I'm here.

There's a question I can't answer.. do truck drivers wash themselves? I've been halting to almost all rest area and there is no shower

Finding an indoor swimming pool in Florida is also a pain in the ass, all the ones I checked are outdoor and thus closed

Not that I'm stinking but I can't continue like that until California :smack

Gonna post pictures before sleep
