My 86 Vette has over 100K miles and the cooling system is in need of some work. I have pulled the radiator (lots of junk in there), and I am putting on a new water pump, all hoses, etc.

I thought I might replace the timing chain while it is apart, but it looks like the pan has to come off to get the timing cover off...am I correct???

If so, how much work is that???? thanks

:excited:

Thanks for the replies

I think I'll go ahead and drop the pan...if I have to take the front loose anyway, it will probably leak (it always does). Then, as someone said, I can check the internals and swap out any bad/warn "stuff"...

I have not been under the car in awhile, but I don't think there is much to pulling the pan (cross bars, etc.). I think just the starter and the pan bolts...correct???

I have pulled the radiator and the a/c condensor and what a pile of crap I found in there...wow. There much be 10 pounds of leaves, plastic baggies, papers, etc., etc.

Thanks again....
