i know most of you know what is going on with the shop and my car. If not you'll see the sticky thread on the C4 section...

anyways the shop "swears" they will have the car ready monday and im here losing sleep over all this..this really sucks but something just popped in my head.

i ALREADY PAID with a check and cashier check(can get copies) to the shop and got the invoice with a 2 year warranty on it that states top end work, rebuild kit, machine shop, R.R. labor, gears, and liters. That was several days ago but now they are telling me that my heads that I bought off ebay aren't any good. I was not told this when they "supposedly" started up the car a while ago and fixed a loose bearing problem. so TECHNICALLY I PAID FOR THE WORK ALREADY AND GOT THE INVOICE. WOULD ANY PROBLEMS OR BROKEN PARTS AFTER THIS TRANSACTIONS BE COVERED BY THEIR WARRANTY?

im going along and going to pick up the "bad" heads tomorrow. What if there is anything damaged or anything like that. I paid for the work and got the invoice with the warranty BEFORE any of this so WOULDN"T THEY BE AT FAULT FOR ANY PARTS THEY SAY AREN"T GOOD? and I have pics of the heads when I got them in from ebay. i hope you guys know what im trying to say but don't know if its any good.

just wanted to know if I have any sort of option here in case I get a broken head or anything screwed up like that.

Sorry,i did'nt read the whole thread, theres some misleading/and contradicting advise in the pages i did read.Dude,i'm sorry to hear your nightmare..I'm no lawyer and theres so much confussion and such,i can't really say one way or the other. But if it was me,i would have them update/or rewrite the warranty paper work with dates stating the parts, part numbers on the heads that were in the final assembly.I'm sure they will try to be slick,it's the nature of the business.
Personally,i would never buy used heads or blocks off ebay, you can't tell anything from pics, unless theres a huge crack or such.I would take the ebay heads to a speed shop/machine shop and have the spec'd out for you,so you know exactly what you have, clearances, etc. Then sell them, with the speed shops "true" specs,or trade them, that way your not misleading someone.
Pics don't really help,as you know, because you bought these heads, and could'nt see a possible problem, especially milling and such.
Good luck and hope the cars is okay monday. Are they doing the tune/chip for you also,at least the speedo correction for the gears and not sure if the cam and stuff was all done earlier,or at the same time as this nightmare.

EDIT...oh,i would probably never go to this shop again either.

Where did you get the cashiers check from? If you got it from your bank, you can and should put a stop payment on it.

I would also contact the Better Busines Bureau and file a complaint.

thanks for the response guys. Like I said I really hope to have it on Monday and just get it over with but if not then im looking toward doing something about it.

the cashier check was from my bank but it was a week ago so i highly doubt they haven't cashed it yet.

unfortunately after reading the Texas Attorney General website on consumer protection on car repairs that insn't true. Legally if I don't pay the mechanic they can keep the car. http://www.oag.state.tx.us/AG_Publications/txts/carepair.shtml

they only thing I really have is the invoice with the warranty and proof that payment was made.
