my 72 vette i bought had a crate engine the previous owner installed.
its a center bolt valve cover 350. i want to know what compression and if the heads are any good. i took it out the 72 (have a bbc454 for it) and am putting it in the 82 for a dd and weekend cruiser.
the rear of the block left side says,.......the right rear #s are
GM 5.7 LG...........................................14093638
SGI

the front pad of the block has CC5 290 on it
and the #s on the heads is 14096217

i droped the pan and it has 4 bolt mains, 1 piece rear main seal, windage tray,
what do i have? i can't find any info on this motor.
i just bought a new cloyes dr timing chain for it. i have a ISKY 270 mega cam to put in it. i really want to know if the heads are junk and what the compression is.
thanks!
