I just read that Chevy will debut a new corvette variant at the NYC Auto Show this month. Anybody heard any rumors what type of variant it'll be? Personally I'm hoping for a Z06 convertible!! :partyon:

Z07 is a variant of Z06. Michelin confirmed they were developing a special tire for that car. Maybe that's it?

the Z07 was shown at Detroit. Too soon for a GS type variant and I really doubt a car with a smaller motor/price tag so I am thinking Z vert or maybe Z06X track car. I just hope it's not some decal package.

Not sure I need 625+HP to drive an average of 35MPH to work each day. Not to say I'd be adverse to the idea!

Given the spy photo of what appears to be a convertible Z06, I'd guess that could be it...

Oh man....a sub $50k model (considering MSRP on a base coupe is $53,000)? If they kept the wide body stance, I'd be ALL OVER it. I don't need heated door handles and a 96 way powered driver's seat. :laughing:

Really doubt that they will be making a cheaper version of the vette specially considering that they are selling like hot cake. Hell GM up the price of the Vette because of that. Expect a Z06 convertible version or just another special edition package.

Not sure I 100% buy that "selling like hot cakes", so they increased the price story. GM jacked the prices on the new pickups because they weren't selling. The idea was to give discounts as an incentive to purchase. Not sure if it worked, but I looked twice at the recent $5K factory incentives.

Not to knock the new Vette. It rocks. But, there is a limited market for this type car and Chevy buyers demand discounts.

Every time I see numbers comparing 2014 sales to 2013, my gut feeling is that these are not apples to apples numbers. The last year of any run is likely to be low as potential customers wait for the new model. I would be more convinced if the numbers were compared to the same period of the 2006 model run. Just my $.02.

2005 37,372 Sixth generation (C6) begins; New body is first with fixed headlamps since 1962; no Z06 model and a late convertible introduction.

That translates to approx 3100 units per month.

Chevy was moving over 4800 units per month when Corvette sales peaked in '79.

So, current sales are higher than C6 sales the month after GM introduced the C7. I don't think anyone is surprised. But, they aren't selling like hot cakes compared with prior years.

GM executive: "Wow! Sales are up! Not to historical levels and we still have production capacity, so we have to do something. Let's jack up the price! That'll have 'em busting down the doors at the local dealers." GM subordinate: "Yes sir! Brilliant idea!"
