What's up all. I'm obviously new to the board. Might be buying a CE LT4 tomorrow, and can't wait. I'm trying to trade a '94 LT1 automatic for it. Wish me luck. Hopefully I'll get it, and let you guys know some more details.:excited:

okay, I need some reliability info. My dad heard that regardless of maintenance, the head on an LT4 had to be pulled at 180-190K, and this car has 131K. Is this true? Or should it be okay to get the car?

I sent you this PM, but thought it might be interesting to everyone....

"The LT4 motor and ZF-6 transmission is extremely reliable. In the last 3 years of LT4 ownership, I have not heard of any stock LT4 motors that have failed for any reason. I bet you can get 200k miles out of it with proper maintenance - possibly even with the original spark plugs. Of course you may run into a failed water pump, or altenator at some point.

BUT, I would be worried about the car itself having that many miles on it. That's a lot of wear on the suspension components, ball joints, u-joints, wheel bearings, headlight motors, weather stripping, power seat motors, A/C, peeling interior coatings ... etc. Expensive to replace.

May I ask what you are considering paying for the car? 3 years ago I bought my black 96LT4 car with 19k miles for a mere $20,500 from a private party. I paid more for the GS, but it's a GS.

A CE with LT4 motor and 130k miles I'd pay about $13,000 tops, even if the car looks great from the outside! $11-12,000 would be a better deal. Again, I'd be worried about immediate and future repairs.

There are a LOT of 92-96 LT1 Corvettes out there with 40-50k miles for the same money and they won't have any mechanical/suspension issues... lots of desperate sellers right now and you can really take advantage of that."

131K...Holy **** dude buy one that wasnt used as a daily driver for 7 years at over 18K miles per year!

Well, the CE had been hit at one point, so this is now a moot situation. I'm now trying to find another LT4 under $16,000. Anyone know of any for sale? Yeah, this one, the hood didn't line up right, it looked like the windshield frame hadn't been set right, and some other stuff.

Try checking ebay for some good deals on 96 vettes. I've seen a bunch of them recently. I'll keep my eyes peeled for you and get back on this thread.

I came VERY close to owning a CE LT4 ragtop about 2 years ago. They would not budge below the $30K mark for the low mile car.

GEEEZ how the prices have dropped out there!!!!!
