This is the reason everyone reading this thread should support autowiz’s YouTube channel Second Shift Peoformance. He didn’t have to give that bit of advice. He did so because he supports this way of life. So people let’s show him a little support in return.

Well today pulled the shifter to put a new bushing on the cable. Popped it off and found the factory bushing in amazingly good condition so put it back together.

Installed a peddle commander for crisper throttle response. Waiting on some parts to come in from the online jungle store and color match paint from GM. Going to body match the console before reinstalling. Oh still waiting on a steering wheel. Then on to ZR1 aero kit headlight upgrade and Z51 brake upgrade.

That sucks but at least you are experienced in taking it apart now

Well after two hours of putting it together and taking it apart because of getting the wiring to lay in right. I have a new steering wheel. Now to clean up my mess and install some weather tech floor mats I got for Christmas the interior will be finished.

I learned a valuable lesson today. If you own a convertible corvette and your going to disconnect your battery you better have your top up and latched. If it’s down it will not function until you manually put it up and redisconnect the battery. Oh and the power windows too.

Man I was freaking out, top wouldn’t work windows wouldn’t work. I was checking everything fuses, connections and relays. Released the pressure on the pump manually raised the top tighten the release on the pump. Latched the top disconnected the battery waited 5 minutes reconnected and everything is fine. Thought I’d really messed up. I’m out in the garage thinking my wife is going to go off over this. Dodged a bullet on this [email protected]

This problem is caused by the car loosing it's memory for the window indexing. This is a learned value that must be set each time the battery gets disconnected or the top will not function as a safety.

Any time the battery gets disconnected we must put each window all the way up twice. That is hold the window up switch until the window goes all the way up and the relay in the door clicks. Then release and hold the window switch up until the relay clicks again. And that's it. The indexing is learned. You must do this for both windows.

And the top will start working again no matter where the top was when the battery got disconnected.

You will always know when the indexing is not learned because the glass will not drop when you open the door and it will not raise back up after you close the door. This function absolutely needs the learned position to function. And all of this is needed because the C6 door has no frame around the glass.

Tried that first. Made sure hood closed, trunk closed and partition was in place. Doors closed nothing no windows no top. Could hear relays clicking. At this point I was very concerned.

Then put top up manually, latched and doors closed still nothing. Windows would not operate. Last ditch effort disconnect battery positive side only wait five minutes reconnect battery. Everything comes to life windows and top what a relief. That’s how it happened. Can’t explain it but happy with the result.

Had battery disconnected to discharge capacitor for air bag when doing the steering wheel. Probably down for four hours. Alarm did go off when battery was hooked back up. But that was expected had happened before when I did a battery replacement.

I’m not doubting you wiz. I sure you know the proper procedure. Just relaying how I got it to start working again. I guess I should have had the windows up before I disconnected the battery if the top didn’t figure into this equation.
