Greetings to everyone here at DC. :D

I realized at nearly 2 dozen posts I have never introduced myself - Here.
It was that "other" sight. OOPS! Thought I would just do it here in C3
since I spend 99% of my time here.

Looks to be a pretty good group of folks here and I like what I have seen so far.

I've been a Vette freak since I was a kid, but never owned one till now.
Have owned more Chevy pickups then I can count and one '73 Z-28
all the other autos aren't worth mention.

Started doing Paint & Body work in High School. Could not afford my own
ride so I helped fixed up everyone else's. Have been in this line of work
ever since. I know a little about everything and a whole lot about nothing.
I don't consider myself "The Expert" but hope I can contribute some sound
advice to the forum. I have learned a lot of neat little things since I've
been visiting the forums and even cleared up a few misconceptions I've had.
(As much as I hate to admit that. )

A father of 5, I stay busy enough. My oldest will be driving in a year and a
half. But she has her eye on my '78 4x4 that we need to finish a resto on
before we get to involved in the Vette. My middle son who's 9 has his own
speed boat, '75 Del-Magic that is almost ready for paint.
They are all wonderful kids and enjoy helping Dad work on the vehicles.

It's been 15+ years since the last Vette that I have done any serious work
on. The last several years have been spent repairing BMW and Porsche :surprised .
Now I work at a shop where we work on any and everything, but their a great
group of guys and that's what matters.

Bought MY first Vette last month, an '81. Was kind of a spur-of-the-moment kind
of a thing. Figured I best stop talking about it and just do it. So I bought
a "project vehicle". Would have been totally out of character not to.:D
My avatar is NOT the actual car but is a exact rendering of what it's suppose
to look like.

I really favor the resto-mods and race cars, never been real big on the
factory spec stuff.........there nice, But....just not me!

Anyhow I'm starting to ramble so I'll shut-up.

Happy to be here and hope to get to know everyone.

Glad to have you! Can't wait to see a write-up of the resto on the '81, and there's a section for "other vehicles" in which I'd like to hear about the 4x4:thumbsup:
It's a great group of guys (and gals) here too, hope you like it!

Wish you lived here. I could use you full time. Body work is my weakness, the rest is cake.

:agree:

I work on commercial airplanes- and I always, I mean ALWAYS, tell 'em me drilling holes in airplanes is a bad idea- unless it's just to mount a wire harness.

I've done some paint and body work, but it takes so long I get PO'd and end up sending it somewhere else anyway, so I don't even try anymore.

Welcome to DC! Keep us posted on your progress- on all your projects!

I don't mind body work. I did "back yard" panel beating and spray painting for years before I came out here. I will be swapping out my front louvers for egg crate style of a 70/71 and also swapping out my rear side marker lights where somone has chopped it to fit something different.

I have pieces of "donor" car and I think it will be a lot easier cutting and pasting with fiber glass rather than welding steel repair panels in.

Hi John :D Lots of pics please mate
Hey John, welcome, I see 'Bama there, where in?? MIL lives in Montgomery, and old buddy went to Athens for college years ago, met up with a Gen U Ine moonshine runner with the likely name of.....Billy Bob Jones...drove a REAL moonshine car through them Tennessee hills just like Bob Mitchum....true story...

I need help on the body of my vette, your kids can visit the ocean while we work on the car......hit I 10 and go east far as you can....there I am....

mine too is a custom, nothing stock from wheels to roof, it's a collection of all GM parts though, and some aftermarket....

here hoping your shark there is fairly rust free, that can be a bear, but I have seen guys repair that....
Welcome to DC from Texas John. Dont forget to post the pics of your Vette during the build up.

John, "Greeting from up here in New England".

:D :D :D :D

Thanks for the Big Welcome everyone.

I've read a lot of good info here, hope I can give some as well.

Since Bodywork seems to be a challenge to most ( it was for me )
I'll try to make some posts focusing on this as I get further along.

As they say here in Tuscaloosa "There is more than one way to skin
a cat",.........so my ways are just one of the many ways and hopefully
they will be beneficial to everyone.

I'm here to learn as well............I have a lot of questions and with the
variety of folks here I'm sure I'll get good answers.

Thanks Again,
John
