My Moroso 20411 showed up today... Since I've bashed in the bottom of my stock zz502 truck pan I splurged. I was gonna have Moroso put some additional baffles in the pan but they wanted $250 and 4 weeks soooo. Since I'm not a'feared and looking at what they did with the trap door and a flat baffle at the back. The trap door lets oil through on acceleration and closes on the brakes... It also has a baffle to keep oil coming up the back of the pan on acceleration. I think I'll just add a similar baffle at each side to keep the oil from climing the sides of the pan from lateral acceleration.

I have some nice clean 16 or 18 ga sheet metal and a welder...

I'll look around to see of the trapdoor stuff is available bulk as well....

Thoughts? Comments?

Gotta solo coming up on Sunday so I want get it done this week

Make sure you don't warp the pan when you weld the baffles in. Not a bad plan at all, but why let it go in the toilet because the pan warped. I'm not to sure about that picture with the baffles pop riveted in- looks like aluminum rivets- not great in a high vibration area, IMHO. I think I'd want them at least tacked in.

I just welded up the muffler on my John Deere mower it didn't warp :rolling: :rolling:

I'll be Ok. Not my first weld...

I was more interested in opinions on lateral trap doors or just anti climb baffles on the kickouts...

I wouldn't rivet either but If I were gonna I do have the tool for the job.... A 1/4 Marson air over hydraulic gun that will spank 1/4 inch steel or SS rivets :surprised squeeze to set squeeze to BANG home.

I was using it to put E-track in Trucks and racing trailers

I didn't really guess it was your first rodeo, but had to throw that out anyway. Anything you do to keep the pickup covered has to help. The pan already has the fore and aft baffles, so I'd think adding the sides can't hurt a thing. A 1/4" to 1/2" rail should be plenty, seeing as the car should stay pretty level and it's only a lateral g's you're looking at. If you're pulling enough to make all the oil climb the pan, then it's a new ballgame anyway.

Or do it like the ford guys do, hinge the trap doors with some bailing wire!

See those holes? that's where the wire goes through LOL. :rolling:

Moroso sells (or used to sell) a trap door U-weld it kit...where you weld the kit to your stock pan after you slice the bottom off of it.....

21950 is perfect... I;ll weld in the oil temp bung amd use the side baffles as my pan already looks like this without the side trap door's, the rest can go in the spares pile inc ase I hit something....
