You gotta be kidding, that's fantastic mileage...you gotta have an overdrive I presume....I got one of those Edelbrocks. Not on a small block though. It is in my 1977 Corvette with a 454 big block with 880 HP. Nice setup. Gets 15 mpg if driven only at slow cruise, 13 mpg with beating it up all the time...
Gene: Not true!!! The optional Z-28 302 race package was cross ram with two Holley double pumpers. Gave AWESOME performance and NO BOG. If you are running a 3.08 rear gear and an automatic, then yes, you'll bog. But slap in a stall speed or keep the RPMs up on a stick and bog will not be an issue. Cross Ram was very popular on cars back in the 60s-70s. Remember the Beach Boys and the Song "Shut Down"...IS that a SBC setup?? loooks like it...can anyone say BOG CITY???
maybe ok on top end....still think it's too much carb....
now dual factory AFB's/WCFBs???..???
THAT's cool....
You bought a Vette for economy/mileage??? :surprised :surprised :surprisedNow if you REALLY want to impress your friends at the local filling station...![]()

Speaking of gas prices, anyone notice that gas now jumps a DIME a gallon instead of a few cents. It went up overnight to $3.25 from $3.15.Usually milage means economy things being equal. It needs to have at least 106 octane which is 4.99 per gallon where I can get it so 13 mpg but not "Economy." It is real impressive to see the dials on the gas pump though, look like they are going to fly off they spin so fast for price!!
