could anyone tell me how my 85 can leak more oil while sitting with the engine off and I can't even see a drip while its running????:bang:bang

its not leaking its marking it home territory





really a hour or so on jack stands, removing the pan,installing a new rear main seal, synthetic one piece oil pan gasket and checking the sensors, intake and valve cover gaskets will usually cure that oil leak problem.
decent jack stands or a lift will help, but its not that complicated or difficult to cure ,if you were local Id suggest you drive over with a new rear seal,pan gasket and valve cover gaskets, and we could get you drip free in under 2-3 hours max, for the cost of lunch

rear oil seals seal when there is oil pressure to force the seals lips against the crank. i used to groove the rear main inserts to allow the oil to drain back into the pan when the engine was shut off. this i a big problem with inboard motor boats because the oil ends up in the bottom of the hull making a mess
