When you guys are considering engine mods, think of friction.

Last year Bubblehead installed a new base model crate engine for me in my 72. Basicly, the new crate is an L48 just like the original. Everything from the old was transfered to the new. Intake manifold, carb, distributor, headers, etc. So the only difference was the new block assembly.

The old engine was as loose as a goose on Exlax. The new engine is tighter than a skinny dippin Eskimo virgin.

I knew the difference immediatley last year when the new ran 20-30 degrees hotter than the old, and my gas mileage went from around 18 to 15.

So what I'm saying is this. Spend the bucks for friction improvements like roller cams, roller rockers. Run the lightest weight oil you dare, etc.

Think friction reduction and you'll realize power gains and better mileage.
