So I know the topic has been discussed a multitude of times on any (and all) of the Corvette forums, but was just hoping I could get a little "no BS" input from you guys on this installation on my '64. I picked up the 1181 Ignitor and 40011 coil. I have pulled the distributor, removed points and condenser, installed Ignitor, checked clearances, reinstalled distributor. Have a recently installed stock-style coil (requires resistor) installed, had planned on installing Flame thrower coil since I have it, but noticed instructions state not to use resistor on instructions for V-8 engines. What are your guy's thoughts? If I install Pertronix coil, what's the best way to bypass resistor, just reroute wire from ignition to outlet side of resistor and use it as a junction block and run both wires straight from Ignitor to coil? A little bit confused about this and not sure how to proceed, any input is greatly appreciated.
