He had it out to play with another cam setup and decided to get some new powdercoating done. Previously it was white to match the car. It's a black crinkle powder coat.

All the pics here....

That looks MONSTEROUS, the black does it very well.

May be next time I'm in town that ZR1 will be drivable-enough for Al to show me what it can do.

We'll be taking to the drags shortly with the DC Z. His car is sick fast. Running a mild cam it's like 550 HP at the wheels.:surprised
2 things:

it is a 421 (I fixed the Title)

and he is running mild CAMS (there are 4 in that bad boy)

Now you see why I want a Z??

421 ci? Well, see if I can keep on top of other peoples projects.

I know there are 4 cams, spanky. But, he is running a mild cam. :D

Yeah well I guess since you can't keep track of your own projects sometimes, I will let it slide

At least my vette project for this year other then the minor things is to DRIVE it..
That is sweet.....lets he is running one mild cam and three wild cams....

when/where are oyu going for drag racing and may i come?
It looks mean, and from the internal description it has every right to do so. I like it.

And... don't forget to bring a helmet. Even if he's taking you around the block.
So Al, what do you think with the cam setup in now?

Even if he's taking you around the block.
Good to know... in case I see Al hopping in with his fire suit on.

Patrick gave you the numbers. It sounds awesome, nothing like winding the
LT5 to 7700 RPM and begging for more.
I will have the car on A DYNO to tune in the next couple weeks, but first
I am going to build A transmission cross member for the car.

It makes so much torque that the shifter actually hits the floor of the center
council. The torque that the car makes is way too much for the inferior
piece of **** C-beam design that chevy developed for the car.

Granted for the stock motor it was alright, but you would think that
the designers would make something durable like A cross member and
support the pinion at the pinion so you don't break it.

The vipers run the DANA 44 as well, you should see the how they have
theirs set-up.The differential has A rear cover just like any C-4 and
they also have the pinion mount to keep the differential from coming
up and twisting.I have broken two DANA 44 Carriers I think that's enough.

Doesn't the VTEC kick in around there? :rolling:

That is simply insane Al. Anything have to be done to the ignition/fuel systems to get it to run smooth that high in the band? 7700rpm is nuts for a V8 street car.

Stock ignition, stock fuel systems. The power is in heads and the intake system
beside having 421CID.My friend Pete has A stock bottom end ZR1
and he makes right around 460 RWHP.

AL.

That' just nasty looking.
