Another Visit to Panther........
While I like the factory competition grey wheels, I thought they might be enhanced by machining a small lip. The factory "dark" look is fine, but lacks a edge to give definition to the wheel against the dark tire.
A visit to Panther created the solution. Tony, one of their machinists put the fix on these wheels:
After machining, the wheels are cleared for protection. Here is the end result:
This machined lip gives a more technical look to the factory painted competiton grey wheels, and can be done relatively inexpensively. The width of the lip is limited by the degree to which you want to chew into the spokes. On these wheels, we went with about a 3/8 inch lip. I also added the decals on the center caps for some additional color.
