How do I separate the control valve from the pitman arm, without damaging the control valve? Its new and I want to reuse it! #2 how hard is it to rebuild? I see a kit for about $30, if needed? TIA

small tie rod puller or 2 ball peens- keep one as a backup and hit against the end 180* apart from the backup. Pickle forks will work but will rip the boot most times.
A full rebuild requires 2 kits and cost about $90 the last time I checked, at least for a quality kit.

The ball peen trick does work and it really doesn't damage the end of the arm. Just like tie rod ends, they're a tapered stud.
