I have a 56 corvette. Had power windows installed. Windows go up very slow as if binding. They go down very fast and smoothly. Not sure how to test motor or switch. All runners are clean and regulator new. Any suggestions out there?

Welcome to DC. Is it one window or both? Have you tried raising and lowering them without glass to see if the speed chngeds

Its definitely both going up. One actually sometimes stops and I have to help it. I have not taken the glass out and tried them. I am a bit apprehensive about getting myself into a S----Show. Both go down like champs. My first thought would be a voltage issue going up or possible ground issue but I would think it would effect both up and down.

Sorry. double checked. Purchased it from Corvette Central. The complete kit with regulator looks to be discontinued but the motors are in stock if I had to replace them.

Try silicone on the window felts to see if it helps. Oh and welcome to DC.

You may have to do some adjusting. Sounds like the felts are binding somewhat. For a test, try loosing the mounting screws to see if they move freer.

My Power Windows and Power Top on my '56 went South in 1961, but I still have the car. Often times those old motors and mechanisms can be cleaned and lubricated, and come back to life. Also the contacts on the switches should be cleaned. The silicone on the felt is also a good idea.
