I found high temp rtv between the intake and heads.
im sure there wont be any vacum leaks but im concerned about performance?
I dont feel like taking the intake off to correct that issue but will try to scrape or cut most of it off.
engine runs on dyno fine but im sure i can get better flow without the RTV in the way.
whats the best approach for the removal of the RTV without disturbing the intake?
pics are of each side.
same amount just about everywhere.

That's disturbing. I would want to remove it too. Do you think you can tuck some paper towels down past the silicone to keep any from going into the cylinders and then carefully trim the silicone with an exacto knife? Then you could blow any small pieces out with low pressure air.

why would you want to try and remove it through a runner??? just pull the intake, get some fresh gaskets and drop it back on.

:agree: Be alot faster and easier. Hell, if your worried about flow, port match it while its off and polish it.

This is what you'll probably end up doing. I know how much it sucks to have to redo something, but sometimes it's quicker than trying to do it the hard way. Oh, and silicone is kind of like Byrlecreem.. a little dab'll do ya.. I just use a small amount where the intake meets the block. Never have had a leak.

I agree. Do it before the engine is in the car or I feelo you will be kicking yourself later.
