Newt is probably the most capable leader in the pack from either party as far as dealing with our economic problems. But I still think he is unelectable.

The problem for Newt that is bigger than the infidelity thing is that during his tenure as Speaker, and through developing the Contract With America, Newt got the reputation for being "mean". He was the firebrand leader of the right who was going to lead us down the painful path of fixing the budget deficit. For Independents over 40, I think Newt is seen as an unlikable person, and we don't vote for people we don't like. Also, being the face of the Contract With American, it didn't help when the press treated it like they do Palin.
