My car is being painted right now, and we came across a problem that is generally called ghostlining. That is a thin stripe showing where the body seems on fenders and quarter panels is.

At first i thought this was only related to the bonding paste i used on some of my repairs but apparently the original body seams show also when the car is in a hot paint booth.

Anyone come across this ?

Thanks

Probably everybody. With time, the factory bonding compound shrinks and can leave a visible line on the front and rear fenders where they jon the surround panels.

Actually we did a test in and out of the booth. The thing is that is does not just shrink, it expands as it gets heated and it shrinks as it cools down (and becomes invisible when cooled down). This means the lines show when the car is out in the hot sun for example.
