Question for those of you who are familiar with the old C3 race cars.

On a number of them I see 2 "marker lights" on the passenger side roof, are they identification lights for runnign at night? or somehting similar to the group position markers you see on the newer race cars?

not really, it had been in a bad fire, I bought it after it had been sandblasted, all that was left was the frame/cage and some suspension. at that time NO ONE wanted old race cars....I`m finding no one wants them these days either.

Yeah, there's truth in that, your "rainbow" car has been for sale for quite some time. Sometimes I wonder, for what you're asking for it it'd be a great basis for a killer car.

...I owned the Greenwood #48 for two weeks 25-30 years ago..still have the reciept with the log book number on it. lights on the door are to score the cars at night and yes lights on the roof were to get the attention of the corner workers and the pit crews.

I think most are like me and think they can make there own for cheaper. I still think that ;)

Also most people evolve with their cars. From auto-x then track and on to more serious stuff and they upgrade as they go.

keyword "think"....you asked about a bar running parallel to the t-arm on a C-2 race car in the intro & greet section....it`s a rear sway bar attached to a $250K race car (I think it`s for sale for $150K)....it is the sister car to the one I consider the fastest car in the country, which means they knew in advance what to buy for this project......opposed to the first car that has probably had $350K spent on it or the Dream Car Garage Corvettes available at $300K per....racing isn`t cheap and anyone who thinks he can do it FOR CHEAP is a fool....or a 16 year old kid.

I think it would be nearly impossible to spend that much. If I had to spend that I would have to start gold plating stuff.

Check your local truck parts supplier, truck stop, or maybe even NAPA will have a catalog you could find them in.. There are lots of shapes and sizes, but be careful about using red lights- the local PD may have something to say about red that's visible from the front..

I`m not going to break it down for you but for starters the car was built by a former NISSAN GTP engineer...EVERYTHING on it is hand built, lightweight and trick (actually way BEYOND trick), NOTHING came from ebay or the second hand store....they didn`t use the fancy Aeroquip stainless steel stuff they used the lightweigh hose and fittings....the absolute BEST of everything and it shows.

But still If you do it your self it would be pretty difficult to spend it. I bet TT probably did though but his isn't even a corvette anymore.

And he didn't use crimp on starlite ultralight weight fittings. He used the stainless hose with teflon lining. I have a few feet of -8 an at the moment.
