I want to buy the absolute best radar detector money can buy...I just don't know which one it is. Anyone have an opinion on who sells the best detector. And one that can't be picked up by cop's radar detector detecor's.

Maybe Vettecop can share some insight on the subject ;)

radar

EVERYONE'S favorite seems to be the Valintine One- but I read about the new Passport that has GPS in it !!! Real time GPS speedo (to compare with yours=) and you can mark (think GPS again) multiple positions of speed vans/ roadside radar !! I'm sure there is more functions that I'm missing, but... the advantage for me the Val. One has is the directional arrows, no GPS but you gotta love US patents:cheers:

I've got the Valentine and am very pleased with it. Last Friday I had to run to Cincinnati. Unfortunately I was in my truck instead of the Vette. At one point another pickup passed me and and like most people I looked over. About then my V1 went off. I saw he had a detector in the window so I watched it. His didn't go off for about 200-300 yards down the road and by then I was slowed way down. I don't know what kind his was but the V1 picked up the signal WAY before his

Just ran from Cincinnati to Dallas last weekend at super orbital speeds. I would have paid big time if the V1 didn't function as advertised. I always got the hit before the other cars. There were some really well concealed speed traps in Arkansas too. They would use the passive roadside radar as radar coverage for a low profile marked unit over the next set of hills. The V1 correctly diagnosed them as 2 contacts using the same band. Pretty tricky.

The Passport 8500 X50 tested the best (in the tests I put the most faith in) in around the corner Ka, and that is my biggest concern. It also has an expert meter that shows multiple signals and their strength. The V1 doesn't offer that. I can tell where the cop is from watching the signal strength effectively, so the arrows don't impress me as much as others. The new one has some nice features, but exactly the same sensitivity to K and Ka signals. I also paid $260 for mine--shipped, brand new. You won't go wrong with the V1, 8500-or 9500 Passport, or the top of the line Bel. For my money, I picked the best. As the Air Force pays me to be radar savy--and I have access to experts in the field, I know a bit about it.

Another nice feature of the Valentine product is that you can upgrade it for a percentage of the original $400 cost, depending on how long you've kept it. I've had mine for 2 1/2 years and am about to trade it in for the latest version and it will only cost me some $80 and I'll have a brand new Valentine. Just my two cents :)

BTW- check out the thread on laser jammer's. I'm having one installed this weekend and am damn determined to never get a speeding ticket with both the jammer and valentine!

Well the V1 arrived yesterday..."WOW" is all I can say about it. Man this thing is awesome, it saved me already...although I would not have been going as fast if I didn't have it.

I got the V1 and couldn't be happier. I never thought the "arrows" would be a big deal, but they are amazing... and work perfectly.

Put it on "L" advanced mode to greatly reduce X band crap. :partyon:

I have the Invisicord with my V-1... The Invisicord works great and If I'm not mistaken there is a thread on here somewhere to make your own.

Having the remote unit hard wired in and mounted in this location lets you really pick up the arrows, in fact I don't use the sound, I hate the beeping.
